Some events are simply too good not to remember, and Get Shucked was certainly one of them.
Part of the Ferguson Lost & Found festival, Get Shucked was a complete sell-out, with every ticket snapped up well before the day. Bringing together lovers of premium Coffin Bay oysters, estate-grown wines and relaxed Ferguson Valley hospitality, the afternoon showcased exactly what a visit to our boutique Ferguson Valley winery is all about – sharing great wine, exceptional produce and memorable experiences in a beautiful setting.
Guests enjoyed premium Coffin Bay oysters, freshly shucked and served with a selection of delicious dressings, from classic mignonette to fresh citrus and a few flavours with a little extra zing. It wasn’t long before conversations turned to favourite combinations, with everyone discovering their own perfect oyster and wine pairing.
The wines quickly became a talking point. Our Sparkling Riesling was the clear crowd favourite, with its lively bubbles and crisp citrus notes proving the perfect partner for fresh oysters. Close behind were our 2025 Riesling, whose bright natural acidity beautifully complemented the delicate sweetness of the Coffin Bay oysters, and our barrel-fermented 2025 Arida Rosé, which offered a richer, savoury style of pairing that proved equally popular. It was a wonderful reminder of just how beautifully cool-climate wines can complement exceptional seafood.
While tickets guaranteed guests a place at the event, oysters were available to purchase throughout the afternoon, allowing everyone to settle in and enjoy the day at their own pace. Guests relaxed with friends over a glass of wine, admired the uninterrupted outlook across the dam and surrounding bushland, and discovered why so many visitors consider Talisman one of the hidden gems of the Ferguson Valley.
One of the highlights of the day was welcoming so many first-time visitors to our cellar door in the Ferguson Valley. Alongside the oysters, guests enjoyed tastings of our current releases, took home their favourite wines and experienced the relaxed atmosphere that makes Talisman a destination worth returning to throughout the year – not just for special events.
Looking back, Get Shucked became one of our most memorable events, bringing together wonderful people, premium produce and wines that were made to be shared. Even if you couldn’t join us for Get Shucked, there’s always a reason to visit Talisman.
The intimate format gave guests the opportunity to chat with owner Kim and vigneron Anita, discover new favourite wines and enjoy an afternoon that perfectly captured the relaxed spirit of Talisman.
